Cancer risk in non-smokers linked to DNA repair polymorphisms

Cancer risk in non-smokers could be linked to DNA repair polymorphisms, but requires further investigations. According to recent research published in the journal Carcinogenesis, "Environmental carcinogens contained in air pollution, such as polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, aromatic amines or N-nitroso compounds, predominantly form DNA adducts but can also generate interstrand cross-links and reactive oxygen species.
