Malaria No More and the White House Ensure Record Protection Against Malaria in Africa

On the first ever Malaria Awareness Day in the U.S., MalariaNoMore.org and the President's Malaria Initiative (PMI) announced new joint efforts in Uganda and Madagascar. Today, the President and First Lady will hold a Rose Garden event to discuss these and other projects.

Last week, the two organizations began distributing 570,000 insecticide- treated bed nets in Uganda, where malaria kills as many as 110,000 people a year. The distribution will bring household ownership insecticide-treated nets to 50 percent in the country. The two organizations will also be participating in a 1.4 million bed net distribution in Madagascar in October, which will achieve 100 percent...
