American Lung Association Vows to Protect All Iowans from Secondhand Smoke

The American Lung Association of Iowa is excited by the passage of the Iowa Smoke-free Air Act, but vows to keep working until all Iowa workers are protected from secondhand smoke.

Though not perfect, the Iowa Smoke-free Air Act will protect an overwhelming majority of Iowans from secondhand smoke. "Politics is the art of the possible," said Roger Kuhle, President of the American Lung Association Leadership Board. "This is what was possible this year, but we are not finished. We will work until all Iowans are protected from the dangers of secondhand smoke and preemption is overturned as insurance against any weakening of this act in the future."
