AARP Celebrates 50th Birthday With Bash at Illinois State Capitol

AARP is turning old enough to join itself this year -- and marked the occasion by throwing a birthday bash at the Illinois State Capitol. State legislators, students, state officials, AARP representatives and members from across Illinois converged in Springfield for the celebration. AARP members throughout the nation are gathering for similar birthday celebrations. At the birthday party, state legislators turning 50 received giant-sized AARP membership cards and Governor Rod Blagojevich proclaimed today, May 28th AARP Day.
