The Midwest is currently suffering from the perfect storm of calamity: as rain continues to fall, the levees start to break, and residents in floodplain areas are evacuated, the Red Cross is running out of money.

The financial cost of flood damage in Iowa alone is more than 1 and a half billion dollars, and that tally is expected to rise. KOLD News of Tucson, Arizona, reports that, according to Red Cross officials, a lack of funds is prompting the agency to borrow money to pay for disaster relief for Midwest flooding victims.
