Governor Delivers New Law to Prevent Utility Disconnects in Summer Heat

Illinois residents struggling to keep up with record high utility bills in the height of summer heat received good news from Governor Blagojevich today. The Governor has delivered a new law to protect Illinois residents from having their utility services disconnected during extreme summer temperatures. The AARP-backed law (HB 5086), which unanimously passed the Illinois Legislature, was introduced by State Representative Bob Flider (D-Decatur), and State Senator Mike Jacobs (D-Moline).
