Abraxas Mourns Death of Director Barry J. Galt

Abraxas Petroleum Corporation (NASDAQ:AXAS) reported that Barry J. Galt, a member of the Company's board of directors, passed away on Friday, August 22, 2008 from complications of cancer at the age of 74. Mr. Galt was elected to the Company's board of directors in 2003. Mr. Galt served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Seagull Energy Corporation, the predecessor to Ocean Energy, Inc., from 1983 through 1998. He served as a director of Ocean Energy, from his retirement in 1999 until the acquisition of Ocean by Devon Energy Corporation in 2003.
