CDC Selects Abt Associates to Support National Birth Defects Prevention Study

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has awarded Abt Associates contracts totaling $4.9 million to provide data collection and project management services for the on-going National Birth Defects Prevention Study. The purpose of the study, which began in 1997, is to collect data that can help identify risk factors and patterns in the occurrence of birth defects. Abt SRBI, the company's survey research subsidiary, will complete all of the data collection for the assignment. Birth defects, which develop during pregnancy, are the primary cause of infant mortality in the United States, and have a serious impact on the health and well-being of children born...
