Aetna Reports Third-Quarter 2008 Results

Aetna (NYSE: AET) announced third-quarter 2008 operating earnings of $1.12 per share,(1) a 15 percent increase over the prior-year quarter. The increase in operating earnings per share reflects 14 percent growth in revenue (excluding net realized capital losses), solid underwriting results, operating expense efficiencies(3) and the impact of the company's share repurchases.
