AEGON Reports 'Resilient' Q3 Results Despite Market Turmoil

AEGON, the Dutch insurer, today unveiled a decline in underlying earnings in the third quarter to EUR500m, but said that results were resilient in the face of challenging markets. In a video interview with online business broadcaster Cantos.com, AEGON CFO Jos Streppel said: "the operational model of AEGON is intact." Streppel described as 'disappointing' the EUR329bn net loss for the quarter, but said that the EUR3bn draw-down facility announced should provide 'an extra buffer' against further deterioration in the financial markets and said that their sound business model would stand them in good stead for the future. ...
