Affymax Completes Enrollment in EMERALD 1, the Third of Four Phase 3 Clinical Trials of Hematide to Treat Anemia in Chronic Renal Failure Patients

Affymax, Inc. (Nasdaq:AFFY) announced that enrollment has been completed in EMERALD 1, one of its Phase 3 clinical trials of its lead investigational therapy, Hematide(TM), which is being evaluated for the treatment of anemia in chronic renal failure patients. EMERALD 1 includes over 800 dialysis patients from over 90 sites in the United States. "With our non-dialysis trials, PEARL 1 and 2, as well as our dialysis trial, EMERALD 1, fully enrolled, we have now completed enrollment in three of our four pivotal Phase 3 trials for Hematide for the treatment of anemia in chronic renal failure patients," said Arlene Morris, president and chief executive officer at Affymax....
