U.S. Government Publishes Information in Spanish on Safe and Effective Use of Warfarin

The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) released a new pamphlet, Su guía para el tratamiento con Coumadin/warfarina (Your Guide to Coumadin®/Warfarin Therapy), to help Spanish-speaking patients know what to expect and watch out for while using the blood thinner Coumadin®/ warfarin. Warfarin can be a life-saver, but taking too high a dose can cause major and sometimes fatal problems because of uncontrolled bleeding. Warfarin is the second most common drug—after insulin—implicated in emergency room visits for adverse drug events, according to HHS' Food and Drug Administration.
