Hospitality Industry Launches Web Site to Educate Legislators, Consumers on Dangers of Proposed Alcohol Tax Increase

A coalition of California-based manufacturers, distributors and retailers of beer, wine and distilled spirits have launched www.sinkthedrinktax.com, a new Web site to educate and mobilize state legislators and consumers against an increase in the state excise tax on alcohol. A nickel-a-drink tax would be, in effect, a 267 percent tax increase on beer, a 640 percent tax increase on wine, and a 129 percent increase on spirits.
