Aetna’s Expanded Geographic Reach Produces Strong Membership Gains in Georgia

Aetna (NYSE: AET) saw strong membership gains in all segments in Georgia last year, adding nearly 85,000 new members under a comprehensive effort to expand the company’s product and network presence into markets outside metropolitan Atlanta. In 2008, Aetna expanded its network operations in markets outside Atlanta, adding 37 hospitals and 3,269 physicians to its HMO network, and 18 hospitals and 1,382 physicians to its PPO network.
