Affymetrix Reports First Quarter 2009 Results

Affymetrix Inc., (NASDAQ:AFFX) reported its operating results for the first quarter of 2009. Total revenue for the quarter was $78.6 million, as compared to total revenue of $169.6 million, including an intellectual property payment of $90 million, in the first quarter of 2008. Product revenue was $64.9 million, which consisted of consumable (array and reagent) revenue of $59.7 million and instrument revenue of $5.2 million. Service revenue was $11.6 million, and royalties and other revenue were $2.1 million. This compares to first quarter 2008 product revenue of $62.8 million, service revenue of $8.4 million, and royalties and other revenue of $98.3 million. ...
