Alexion Reports First Quarter 2009 Results

Alexion Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NASDAQ: ALXN) announced financial results for the quarter ended March 31, 2009. First Quarter 2009 Financial Results: For the three months ended March 31, 2009, Alexion Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (“Alexion” or the “Company”) reported net product sales of Soliris® of $81.3 million, compared to $45.5 million for the same period in 2008. Soliris was approved in the United States and European Union in 2007 and is the only drug specifically indicated for the treatment of patients with paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (“PNH”), an ultra-rare, debilitating and life-threatening blood disease. The Company reports both GAAP and non-GAAP results....
