Turns out that employees may not be your biggest health insurance cost after all – in fact, the significant spending is probably coming from their significant others. In a recent study conducted by Advanced Plan for Health, health care costs associated with dependents (typically 2.2 family members per employee) were significantly higher than those of the employees for both years surveyed, 2007 and 2008. Dependent males are the most expensive, especially after the age of 40. Whereas an employed male will cost a company, on average, $280.88 per month, the cost to insure a dependent male of the same age is, on average, $421.93 per month. The disparities...
