The Canadian Red Cross reports that in recent years natural disasters, from earthquakes in British Columbia to hurricanes in New Brunswick, have forced more than four million Canadians from their homes. Recent flooding in Manitoba led to the evacuation of over 1,200 people as the Red River grew more than 10 miles wide in some places.
