Covidien Reports Fourth-Quarter and Fiscal 2009 Results

Covidien plc (NYSE: COV) reported results for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2009 (July - September 2009). Fourth-quarter net sales of $2.7 billion were essentially unchanged from those of a year ago, with unfavorable foreign exchange of $54 million reducing the quarterly sales growth rate by approximately 2 percentage points. The fourth-quarter results included several one-time items as shown in the attached quarterly Non-GAAP Reconciliations table, including income tax, legal and environmental charges.
