Wisconsin close to record settlement deal for troubled nursing home

The Wisconsin state Justice Department has reached a record settlement with a firm over allegations of health violations at its northwestern Wisconsin nursing home, Attorney General Peg Lautenschlager said.

Lautenschlager issued a statement saying she is preparing to file documents in Chippewa County Circuit Court that would set up a $2.3 million settlement with Extendicare Homes, Inc. The settlement is the largest the Department of Justice (DOJ)'s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit has ever obtained, Lautenschlager said.
