According to E.J. Boyko and colleagues, VA Puget Sound Health Care Systems, "No prospective data exist on the risk of microbiologically confirmed urinary tract infection (UTI) and asymptomatic bacteriuria (AB) in relation to diabetes mellitus and its characteristics."
