Researchers' work from the United States, Taiwan and Japan adds to tuberculosis body of knowledge

Tuberculosis data are the focus of recent research from the United States, Taiwan and Japan.

Study 1: Nested PCR detects Mycobacterium bovis and M. tuberculosis in cerebrospinal fluid.

"The paucibacillary nature of the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) has been a major obstacle in the diagnosis of human tuberculous meningitis (TBM). This study shows that with molecular techniques direct precise determination to the species level of mycobacterial pathogens can be made," researchers in India report.
