WellPoint, Society of Thoracic Surgeons collaborate to share medical performance information

WellPoint, Inc., (WLP) will begin using information collected by The Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) to assess cardiac surgery outcomes for WellPoint members undergoing cardiac surgical procedures, including open heart surgery. STS is providing WellPoint, one of the nation's largest health plan, with performance information from hospitals and medical groups that have agreed to share their data from the society's database of nationally accepted outcomes measures for cardiothoracic surgical procedures.
