According to recent research published in the Journal of Pharmacological Sciences, "Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPAR gamma) is a ligand-dependent transcriptional factor implicated in regulating adipogenesis, glucose homeostasis, and in mediating the action of the insulin sensitizing antidiabetic thiazolidinedione (TZD) compounds.
