Scientists have developed an efficient synthesis of 5'-homoaristeromycin. "An efficient synthesis of 5'-homoaristeromycin has been developed. This permitted an extensive antiviral analysis, which found potent activity toward vaccinia, cowpox, and monkeypox viruses," investigators in the United States report.
