Scientists have optimized the differentiation of human preadipocytes in vitro.

According to published research from Germany, "This study aimed at developing an optimal protocol for proliferation and differentiation of preadipocytes that is a prerequisite for constructing an ideal biohybrid composed of viable adipose precursor cells in a three-dimensional matrix. Such an implant could represent an adequate solution for correcting soft tissue defects, e.g., extensive deep burns or tumor resections.
