Canadian study concludes plasma exchange is not beneficial in multiple myeloma treatment

Recent findings may change standard care practices for patients with acute renal failure due to multiple myeloma (cancer of the plasma cells).

More and more, plasma exchange is being endorsed by a number of health-related associations as useful for preventing acute renal failure at the onset of multiple myeloma. However, a recent study at 14 medical centers across Canada found no conclusive evidence to suggest that this treatment provides any kind of benefit to patients.
