Research from University of Tokyo, Department of Neurology has provided new data on myoclonus prevention

Fresh data on myoclonus are presented in the report 'Difference in intracortical inhibition of the motor cortex between cortical myoclonus and focal hand dystonia.' According to recent research from Tokyo, Japan, "The short interval intracortical inhibition (SICI) of the motor cortex (M1) is reduced in both cortical myoclonus and focal hand dystonia. This reduction has been attributed to the dysfunction of GABAergic system within the motor cortex."
