Differences in Pulmonary Function Among Races Studied

New lung function data for normal Hong Kong-born Chinese children and adolescents between the ages of seven and 19 show flow volume capacity (FVC) in boys is 8%-10% lower than figures for white children.

Moreover, when compared with prior Hong Kong data on Chinese children from 1985, the new study results demonstrate a significant increase in forced expiratory volume in 1 second (FEV1).
