For the past decade, research has shown that the highest incidence of mortality and morbidity due to asthma was found in the inner cities. But new results from focus groups around the country in both urban and rural communities show that rural families experience the same frustrations, concerns, and fears about asthma. The purpose of the focus groups was to understand the differences and similarities between how rural and urban families perceive asthma and deal with its chronic symptoms.
