Bear market influences increase in psychiatric disabilities

The economy's effect on workers' mental health is one reason for the increasing psychiatric disability in the workforce, according to a leading employee assistance expert and corporate psychologist speaking at one of the country's largest mental health conferences.

Daniel J. Conti, PhD, employee assistance director at Bank One spoke at the 15th annual conference of the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance (DBSA was formerly known as the National Depressive and Manic-Depressive Association). DBSA is the world's largest organization dedicated to improving the lives of people living with depression and bipolar disorder.
