IMPAX receives approval for generic Claritin Reditabs

IMPAX Laboratories, Inc., (IPXL) announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has granted approval to the company's abbreviated new drug application (ANDA) for a generic version of Claritin Reditabs (loratadine orally disintegrating tablets) 10 mg. Schering Plough Corp. markets Claritin Reditabs as an over-the-counter (OTC) drug for the relief of symptoms of seasonal allergic rhinitis (hay fever). According to NDCHealth, U.S. prescription and OTC sales of Claritin Reditabs were over $175 million for the 12 months ended July 31, 2003.
