A scientist has proposed expressions involving relations among transmission, vaccine coverage and reproduction numbers.

According to recent research published in the journal Mathematical Biosciences, "We consider the impact of a vaccination program on the transmission potential of the infection in large populations. We define a measure of vaccine efficacy against transmission that combines the possibly random effect of the vaccine on individual susceptibility and infectiousness.
