Use of IT in hospitals bodes well for future, report says

Information technology use by Ontario, Canada, hospitals is on the rise, a finding that may be a positive indicator for future performance, suggests a report involving the University of Toronto-based Hospital Report Research Collaborative.

According to the collaborative's principal investigator, Adalsteinn Brown, professor of Health Policy, Management, and Evaluation, the extent to which hospitals invest in information technology (IT) is important because it reflects the extent to which they are trying to organize their processes of care and to which they are able to invest in the right levels of technology.
