Adding to soaring malpractice premiums is a growing tendency for insurers to refuse policy renewals if doctors provide care in nursing homes, prompting many to pull out of the facilities, the Akron Beacon Journal reported on February 15, 2004.
"What are we supposed to do' Lay here and die because we can't get a doctor'" said 75-year-old Donna Turner, who no longer can see her favorite doctor at Stow-Glen Retirement Village in Stow, Ohio.
