Effects of morphine on LPS-induced VEC permeability clarified

The effects of morphine on VEC permeability in the presence of LPS have been characterized. According to recent research from New Jersey, VEC "provide an essential protective barrier between the vascular system and underlying tissues." "Using VEC barrier models of human coronary artery cells and human and rat brain microvascular endothelial cells," H.C. Liu and coauthors at Seton Hall University sought to determine "the mechanism by which morphine affects lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced VEC permeability."
