Serological correlate of protection in rabbits for anthrax vaccine identified

Researchers have identified a serological correlate of protection in rabbits for a recombinant anthrax vaccine. According to a study from the United States, "In these studies, a serological correlate of protection against anthrax was identified in New Zealand white (NZW) rabbits that had been given one or two injections of various amounts of recombinant protective antigen (rPA) combined with aluminum hydroxide adjuvant (Alhydrogel). Rabbits were subsequently challenged by the aerosol route with spores of the Ames isolate of Bacillus anthracis."
