New Albany, Indiana hospital fights for its accreditation

Floyd Memorial Hospital in New Albany, Indiana, has appealed the preliminary denial of accreditation from a national healthcare organization, which cited problems with the hospital's laboratory.

The 14 citations against the hospital included the need to keep lab equipment "maintained, tested and inspected" and to make sure lab employees have adequate training.

Other citations by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) involve record-keeping shortcomings, The Courier-Journal of Louisville, Kentucky, reported.
