Possible causes of Gulf War syndrome reviewed

A researcher reviews possible causes of Gulf War Syndrome in a recent issue of the journal Neurologic Clinics.

"Some veterans serving in the first Persian Gulf War (1990-1991) reported unexplained symptoms during deployment or shortly after returning home. Many of their symptoms were neurologic and included fatigue, muscle and joint pain, headaches, loss of memory, and poor sleep. This constellation of nonspecific symptoms has come to be known as Gulf War syndrome (GWS). Gulf War veterans (GWV) were exposed to unique, hazardous environmental conditions," an investigator in the United States reports.
