Gramicidin A dynamics examined, influence on anesthesia clarified

Recent research from the United States published in the Biophysical Journal has chronicled molecular dynamics simulations of C2F6 effects on gramicidin A (gA) and the implications of the mechanisms of general anesthesia.

"It was recently postulated that the effects of general anesthetics on protein global dynamics might underlie a unitary molecular mechanism of general anesthesia," wrote Z.W. Liu and colleagues, University of Pittsburgh.
