Angiotensin type analyzed, receptor antagonist activity documented

According to recently published research from the United States, sarcosine-1, glycine-8 angiotensin II (SG Ang II) is a functional AT1 angiotensin receptor antagonist.

"SG Ang II displayed unusual characteristics in early pharmacological studies. It was a potent antagonist of the dipsogenic actions of intracerebroventricularly administered Ang II in the rat, but showed low affinity for bovine cerebellar Ang II receptors," wrote R.C. Speth and colleagues, University of Mississippi.
