Platelet activation analyzed, roles of Tyr phosphorylation defined

According to published research from Canada, Streptococcus sanguis-induced platelet activation involves two waves of Tyr phosphorylation mediated by FcgammaRIIA and Alpha(Iib)beta(3).

"The low-affinity IgG receptor, FcgammaRIIA, has been implicated in S. sanguis-induced platelet aggregation. Therefore, it is likely that signal transduction is at least partly mediated by FcgammaRIIA activation and a tyrosine kinase-dependent pathway.
