New Findings from L. Kramer and Co-Authors Describe Advances in Hepatic Failure

2011 NOV 7 -- Fresh data on Hepatic Failure are presented in the report "Detoxification as a treatment goal in hepatic failure." According to the authors of recent research from Vienna, Austria, "Acute liver failure (ALF) is a dramatic clinical syndrome with high mortality because of cerebral oedema (type A hepatic encephalopathy) and multi-organ failure. With intensive care medicine and emergent liver transplantation being the mainstay of treatment, alternatives to transplantation are increasingly needed."
