Patients with lichen planus should be screened for hepatitis C infection.

According to recent research published in the International Journal of Clinical Practice, "the reported prevalence of hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection in patients with lichen planus (LP) shows variations from different regions. The aim of this study was to investigate the prevalence of HCV infection in patients with LP, in Diyarbakir region of Turkey."
