Diagnostic imaging, prescription drugs, emergency room spending rise sharply

Costs of MRIs and CT scans, prescription drugs and emergency room services are contributing to the rising cost of health care in the state, according to a report released recently by the Minnesota Council of Health Plans (MCHP).

In 2005, Minnesota's eight nonprofit health plans and their members spent $10.7 billion on care, averaging more than $3,270 per person enrolled.
