Biotech company reports 22% increase in fourth-quarter revenue

Genzyme Corp. (GENZ) announced that revenue increased 22% in the fourth quarter of 2005 to $722 million, up from $591 million in the fourth quarter a year earlier.

For the year, revenue grew 24% to $2.7 billion from $2.2 billion in the previous year.

Genzyme reported these and other preliminary, unaudited revenue figures in advance of a presentation by Chairman and CEO Henri A. Termeer at the JPMorgan 24th annual healthcare conference in San Francisco, California.
