Los Angeles Maintenance Companies Continue Work to Negotiate New Janitor Contract

The leading building maintenance companies serving Los Angeles continue to work for a negotiated agreement covering their local janitorial employees, even as the labor union representing the janitors eschewed a historic proposal for wage and benefit improvements totalling $3.55 per hour over four years.

The companies' proposal includes a consolidated twenty percent improvement over four years in wages, health insurance benefits and pension benefits, as well as continued funding for programs such as employee training. The companies propose increasing the janitors' hourly wages alone by $2.05 over four years.
