Myopic macular degeneration clinical trial initiated

OXiGENE, Inc., (NASDAQ: OXGN, XSSE: OXGN) announced the initiation of a phase II clinical trial of its lead compound Combretastatin A4 Prodrug (CA4P) in patients with myopic macular degeneration (MMD) under its Investigational New Drug application submitted to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

MMD is a progressively degenerative eye disease that can lead to legal blindness and has been estimated to afflict more than 300,000 patients in the United States and an even greater number in Asia and certain developing countries.
