Abdominal aortic aneurysm repair is predominantly done using endovascular techniques

Endovascular repair of abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA) through the placement of aortic stent-grafts has now become a viable alternative to open surgery, with unfavorable neck anatomy as the primary factor for exclusion.

According to a study from Italy, "The purpose of this study was to determine how many patients with AAA are eligible for endovascular abdominal aortic aneurysm repair (EVAR). We retrospectively reviewed computed tomography (CT) angiograms obtained between January 2002 and June 2003 in 182 patients with suspected AAA."
