Scientists at Pontifical Catholic University Publish New Data on Diabetes

2011 MAR 27 -- "The present study evaluated the relationship between metabolic syndrome (MS), body fat composition and epicardial adipose tissue (EAT) in type 1 diabetes. Epicardial adipose tissue is a new independent marker of coronary artery disease (CAD)," scientists writing in the journal Diabetes Research and Clinical Practice report.

"Forty-five type 1 diabetic women were evaluated (age 36 +/- 9 years; body mass index 24.6 +/- 4.4 kg/m(2)). Metabolic syndrome was defined by the World Health Organization criteria.
